Dhaka: Gunmen takes 20 foreigners as hostage

Dhaka, July 1 (IBNS) A group of gunmen took 20 foreigners as hostage at a restaurant in Dhaka's Gulashan area in Bangladesh on Friday, media reports said.

Police and the attackers are currently exchanging fire.

At least three people have been injured so far, report said.

Witnesses was quoted  as saying by Prothom Alo news paper that a group of gun-wielding young men entered the restaurant—Holey Artisan Bakery—at Road 79 around 8:30pm by opening gunshots, charging bombs and shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’.

A witness Suman was quoted as saying by the newspaper: "They blasted a numbers of bombs and swooped on the guests in the restaurant shouting Allahu Akbar."

He said the attackers carried heavy guns.

Huge number of police have reached the spot.
