Chinese man arrested in Nepal for attempting to hack ATM

Kathmandu: Nepal police officials have arrested a Chinese nation as he was attempting to hack an ATM and illegally withdrawing cash.

The arrested man was identified as Wang Xiaolon.

Twenty-nine-year-old Wang Xiaolon, was arrested from an ATM booth of Mega Bank in Jyatha, Thamel, yesterday at around 5:30pm, reported The Himalayan Times.

A team of police from Metropolitan Police Circle in Durbarmarg and Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu had received information about possible theft by hacking a few days ago from various sources. After receiving a phone call from the bank about possible swindling, police had immediately reached the site. The man was arrested from the ATM booth, the Nepali newspaper reported.

The police did not clarify how much money the man had stolen.

After arresting him, police had gone to his room at Hotel Montys where he was residing. Police there found seven ATM Cards called 'Magerty VIP' and three more ATM cards of Union Pay along with some electronic devices, reports The Himalayan Times.

Police are further investigating into the matter.
