Dhaka/IBNS: A madrasa teacher was detained by the police on charges of sexually abusing two female third grade students in Bangladesh's city of Narayanganj.

He was identified as Qari Shahidul Islam.

He was detained from Safinatul Ummah Mohila Madrasa at Hosaini Nagaron Sunday.

Mohtamim Mawlana Abdul Huq, another teacher of the madrasa, filed a case against the suspect under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act with Fatullah model police station on Monday afternoon, the police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Aslam Hossain told Dhaka Tribune.

According to case details, Qari Shahidul allegedly abused the female students from different classes by touching them inappropriately, reported the news paper.

The parents took the matter to Union Parishad Chairman M Saifullah Badal after some students informed the matter to their guardians.

Local sources told Dhaka Tribune Qari Shahidul and Mohtamim Abdul Huq, along with others, established the madrasa in 2014. After the other partners left the madrasa for several reasons, the two kept the institution running.
