Bangladesh: Key accused in Nusrat death case arrested

Dhaka, Apr 13 (IBNS): Another key suspect in the death of  Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi has been arrested by the police.

The arrested man was identified as Nur Uddin.

He was arrested from Mymensingh on Saturday, Police Bureau of Investigation or PBI was quoted as saying by bdnews24 news portal.

The arrested person was close to principal SM Siraj-ud-Daula.

A total of seven suspects, including Nur Uddin, have been arrested in connection with the death so far that has left the south Asian nation shocked.

Abdul Quader, one of the eight accused mentioned in the case filed by Nusrat’s brother, is still absconding and the police are searching for him, media reports said.

"Nusrat had been tricked onto the roof of the madrasa where the perpetrators set fire on her on Apr 6 for not withdrawing the sexual assault case against Siraj," reported bdnews24 news portal.

The girl passed away on Apr 10.

The principal was arrested  in the sexual assault case filed by Nusrat’s family and it was Nur Uddin who had spearheaded the campaign at Sonagazi Upazila to press for the release of the arrested person.
