Bangladesh: 3057 test positive for COVID-19 , 41 die in past 24 hrs

Dhaka/UNI: The death toll from coronavirus reached 2,709 in Bangladesh on Tuesday as 41 more people lost their lives in the last 24 hours while 3057 new cases were reported in the same period.

The current tally has now spiked to 2,10,510, Professor Nasima Sultana, ADG of the Directorate General of Health Services, said during daily briefing.

In the last 24 hours, 1,841 more recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 115,397, she said.

Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8.

The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

The deadly virus spread to 213 countries and territories, killing some 6,13,600 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

As many as 14,870,983 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 8,926,264 people have recovered, the website said.
