Afghanistan: Five coal miners shot dead in Samangan

Kabul: Unidentified gunmen have shot dead five coal miners in Samangan province of Afghanistan, local officials confirmed on Friday.

The state-run Bakhtar News Agency has quoted the local Taliban officials saying the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Kotal Regi area of the Dara-e-Sof district of the province bordering Balkh province, reports Khaama Press.

According to reports, the miners were first robbed then shot.

The victims reportedly belong to the Hazara community.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
