Kolkata/IBNS: Buoyant by the recent success in the Bangabandhu Cup, the West Bengal Dragon Boat and Traditional Sports Association is eyeing around seven to eight representations from the state in the Indian team for the upcoming Asian Games.

"Our preparation is good this time. We are expecting overall seven-eight representations in the Indian team," said vice president of the association Shakil Ahmed.

The association has sent its team to the ninth Open National Dragon Boat Championship in Kerala.

The event will be held on Apr 8, 9 and 10.

The Indian team selection for the 19th Asian Games, 2022 will also be held in Kerala.

Ahmed is expecting a greater representation of women players than the men considering the performance in the Bangabandhu Cup International Boat Race Competition 2022, which was held in Dhaka on Mar 28-30.

While the Indian Girls' team won the Gold medal competing against three other teams, the Indian Boys' Team won the Silver medal challenging four other teams.
