Lahore/UNI: Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been banned from all forms of the game for three years for failing to report spot-fixing offers, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Monday.

“Umar Akmal handed three-year ban from all cricket by Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel Mr Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan,” read a tweet from the offcial handle of PCB media department.

The 29-year-old cricketer, who was provisional suspended in February this year, was found in breach of Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code.
Akmal was also barred from playing for his franchise Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League opening match during the 2020 edition.

His last appearance came in October 2019 during a home T20 series against Sri Lanka. From his 16 Tests, 121 ODIs and 84 T20s, the batsman has 1003, 3194 and 1690 runs to his credit.

Akmal, is the younger brother of former Pakistan wicke-tkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal, and cousin of current captain Babar Azam.
