Trott announces retirement from cricket

London, May 5 (IBNS): English cricketer Jonathan Trott, who has hit nine Test centuries in his career, has announced his retirement from international cricket following the series with West Indies.

He has played 52 tests and 68 ODIs for England.

The batsman also represented the national side in seven T20 Internationals.

Scoring 3835 runs in Tests and 2819 in ODIs, Trott has contributed significantly with his willow for the national side.

Reacting to his announcement, cricketer Kevin Pietersen tweeted: "You can be so proud of your England career, @Trotty! It was an absolute pleasure batting at 4 behind you & batting with you! #runmachine."

Former England skipper Paul Collingwood said: "You've literally left your mark on every test pitch around the world @Trotty A leg stump trench!! Well done on a great career mate #Trott."

Wicket-keeper Matt Prior said: "Congratulations on a fantastic international career @Trotty. Was great to share so many good times with you on and off the pitch. #trotty."

Former English spinner Ashley Giles tweeted: "Congrats @Trotty on a brilliant international career. You should be incredibly proud of everything you've achieved. Well done mate."

Pacer James Anderson said: "It was emotional yesterday when Trotty told us. It was a pleasure playing with him. Such a huge part of our success. "

Cricketer Ian Bell tweeted: "Congrats @Trotty on a fine career with @ECB_cricket Looking forward to a few more years with you @CricketingBears."
