SC upholds Bombay High Court verdict of no IPL matches in Maharashtra

New Delhi/Mumbai, Apr 27 (IBNS) The Supreme Court of India sided with Bombay High Court on Wednesday and has upheld the latter's verdict that no Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches can be held in May in Maharashtra, according to media reports.
Supreme Court dismissed Mumbai Cricket Association's plea against shifting IPL out of Maharashtra.
 
On Apr 22, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Maharashtra Cricket Association had jointly filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court to allow Indian Premier League (IPL)  matches to be held according to the original schedule in Maharashtra.

With Maharashtra hit by severe drought, the Bombay High Court had directed to shift 13 IPL matches, scheduled to be held in the state afterApr 30, outside the state.
