Prithvi Shaw to miss first Test against Australia

| @indiablooms | Nov 30, 2018, at 10:39 am

Sydney, Nov 30 (IBNS): India's young opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the first Test match against Australia owing to his left ankle injury.

Shaw suffered the injury while attempting a catch at the boundary ropes in the practice game against Cricket Australia XI at The Sydney Cricket Ground here.

The right-handed batsman, who received praises for his fearless batting against Windies recently, underwent scans on Friday morning and the reports revealed a lateral ligament injury.

He will undergo an intensive rehabilitation program to hasten the recovery and be available for selection at the earliest, BCCI informed.

During the four-day practice match against Cricket Australia, Shaw scored 66 runs off 69 balls before getting bowled out by Daniel Fallins.

The first match, which will be played in Adelaide, is set to begin on Dec 6.
