Pakistan’s Azam becomes fastest batsman to get 2000 T20I runs

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam has become the fastest batsman to score2000 Twenty20 International runs by breaking the record so long held by Indian captain Virat Kohli, The News reported.

Azam achieved the fest in only 52 T20I innings, four less than Kohli.

Azam is the third Pakistan batsman and the 11th in the world to amass 2000 runs in T20I.

Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez reached the landmark previously.

Azam’s achievement came only days after he toppled Kohli to become the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world.

Azam now sits on top of ICC's ODI batsman rankings with 865 points and Kohli is number 2 with 857 points, the News said.
