Pakistan: Shoaib Akhtar slams people for their 'attitude' in dealing with COVID19, urges govt to take strong action

Islamabad/IBNS: In his Youtube video, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his unhappiness over people's casual approach towards dealing COVID 19 outbreak in the country.

He urged people to stay home.

He expressed his anger after seeing people roaming around freely on the streets.

" I really went outside for some really important work today. I did not shake hands with anyone or hugged anyone," Akhtar said in a video posted on his Youtube page.

"The windows of my car were closed the entire time and I came back home as soon as possible. But I noticed a very worrying scene outside. I saw four people travelling on one bike, they were going for a picnic," he asked.

"People are having food together outside, travelling to other places. Why are restaurants still open, why are we not closing them," he said.

He said people should not believe in myths like summer heat will kill the virus.

"Don’t believe in myths that this virus will not spread in the summer or not infect young people," he said.

He urged Pakistan PM Imran Khan to take strong action.

"I am sorry to say that people will not listen here. They are having holidays. I am requesting the government of Pakistan to take strong action. Please impose lockdown," he said.

He mentioned the lockdown imposed by Indian government to tackle the situation.

"In India, people have embraced a curfew," he said.

Pakistan has so far registered 887 infected cases. Six people have died so far.
