Hangzhou: India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra successfully defended his gold medal with an impressive throw of 88.88 meters in the Javelin Throw Final at the 19th Asian Games, Hangzhou on Wednesday.

The throw that sealed the Asiad gold medal for Neeraj also happened to be the season best for the World and Olympic champion.

Despite a strong performance from compatriot Kishore Jena, who briefly took the lead with a personal best throw of 86.77 meters, Neeraj Chopra ultimately secured the top position.

Notably, Neeraj's initial remarkable attempt was not officially recorded due to a technical issue.

Looking at Neeraj Chopra’s illustrious career, he has secured top honours in almost all prestigious events.

His triumphs include Commonwealth and Asian titles in 2018, a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, and claiming the Diamond League crown in 2022.

In 2023, he added the World title to his list of achievements.
