Southampton, Sept 2 (IBNS): Despite taking 21 runs lead int he first innings, India failed to save the fourth Test and the series as they were defeated by a spirited England by 60 runs here on Sunday.

Batting to chase down a target of 245 runs for victory, Indian team were bowled out for 184 runs.

Apart from skipper Virat Kohli (58) and Ajinkya Rahane (51), the remaining batting lineup struggled infront of the English bowling which performed with a sting on the park on the fourth day of the series.

England clinched the series 3-1.

English bowler Mooen Ali shined with the ball once again and picked up four wickets.

He broke the crucial partnership between Rahane and Kohli by dismissing the Indian skipper.

It was Kohli's wicket which changed the scenario for India and ultimately led to the downfall.
