Bengaluru, Mar 29 (IBNS): A spectacular knock by South African batsman AB de Villiers proved futile as Royal Challengers Bangalore were defeated by Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians in the 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Thursday.

Batting first, Mumbai scored 187/8 in 20 overs.

Rohit Sharma (48) and Suryakumar Yadav (38) were the top scorers for the men-in-blue.

Chasing 188, Bangalore scored 181/5 in 20 overs. AB remained unbeaten at 70.

Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli scored 46.

While Mumbai registered their first victory, Bangalore are yet to win a match in this year's IPL.
