India to host FIFA U-17 Women's WC across five cities

New Delhi/UNI: India will host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup for the first time across five cities from Nov 2 to 21, organisers announced here on Tuesday.

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, AIFF president Praful Patel, FIFA Chief Women's Football Officer, Sarai Bareman, FIFA head of youth tournaments, Roberto Grassi officially announced the schedule and venues for the tournament here.

Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata and Navi Mumbai will play host to 16 teams which will compete across 32 matches to lift the coveted trophy.

The tournament kicks off on November, the quarterfinals will be played on Nov 12 and 13 while the semifinals will be held on Nov 17.

Group stage matches will be played in four host cities (Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati and Kolkata) while the final of the tournament will be held at Navi Mumbai on Nov 21.

The official slogan - Kick Off The Dream - was also unveiled during the event.
