Hardik Pandya's stormy 71 in vain as Australia defeat India by 4 wickets to take 1-0 lead

Indian allrounder Hardik Pandya's stormy 71 was left with no value as India were defeated by Australia by four wickets in the first of the three T20I matches played here Tuesday.

Chasing a huge target of 209, Australia scored 211/6 in 19.4 overs.

Cameron Green's 30-ball 61 in the top order and a quick unbeaten 45 by Mathhew Wade made the job easier for the Aussies.

Despite Axar Patel's three wickets, the men-in-blue were beaten by the yellow brigade in the death overs.

Earlier, Pandya slammed an unbeaten knock of 71 off just 31 balls to pump in 208/6 in 20 overs.

KL Rahul's 55 off 35 balls and Suryakumar Yadav's 46 off 25 balls came in handy for India to post the huge total, which was, however, not enough to overpower Australia.
