Gary Kirsten approached by BCCI for second stint as Indian team coach

Mumbai, Oct 16 (IBNS): Former South African opener Gary Kirsten has said that he was approached by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a second stint as the coach of the Indian cricket team.

He said he was not in a position to take a decision on the issue.

"There have been one or two phone calls but I was not in a position to make those decision," Kirsten told Mumbai Mirror.

"There were always calls going on. Even when I was here for the IPL there were always calls going on. I always think it as a privilege to be offered a job of international team, great honour. I am in India now to do some other works," Kirsten said.

The South African said he was enjoying his life outside cricket.

"I am enjoying my life out of cricket. But you can never rule anything out in life. See what the situation is. I never say yes or never say no, it's difficult," he said.

The BCCI is searching for a coach since the tenure of Duncan Fletcher ended.

India had won the 2011 World Cup during the tenure of Kirsten as the coach of the Indian team.
