Former Mr Universe and Indian bodybuilder Manohar Aich dies

Kolkata, Jun 5 (IBNS): The doyen of Indian bodybuilding, Manohar Aich, who became the first Indian post the country's independence, to be crowned Mr Universe, breathed his last on Sunday afternoon.

Aich was over 100 years old.

On his demise, Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee tweeted, "Saddened at the passing of world famous body-builder Manohar Aich. He made us proud. Rest in Peace."

Aich was born in 1914 in Comilla district, Bangladesh.

He won the Mr Universe crown in 1952.
