Farooq Khan compliments J&K Water Sports players

Srinagar/IBNS: Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Water Sports Centre in Srinagar has brought laurels to the union territory by clinching the highest of medals in the ninth National Dragon Boat Championship held at Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.

The J&K Water Sports mens and womens side have made their union territory proud by winning 12 medals, including two gold medals and the highest score in the championship.

21 teams from all over the country participated where J&K fielded a contingent of 50 players.

The championship was organized by the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association and their national governing body.

In the senior mixed category, J&K emerged as the overall winner, while Maharashtra bagged the runners up place.

Interacting with the players, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor and Vice President for J&K Sports Council, Farooq Khan, congratulated the team for their performance in the national event.

Principal Secretary for Youth Services and Sports, Alok Kumar, said that hard work of the J&K government to set up this world class centre has paid dividends.
