Don't reitre MS Dhoni, urges Lata Mangeshkar

Mumbai, July 11 (IBNS): India's iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar has joined the list of people who are urging former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to drop the plan of retiring from international cricket if any.

Mangeshkar on Thursday tweeted, "Namaskar M S Dhoni ji.Aaj kal main sun rahi hun ke Aap retire hona chahte hain.Kripaya aap aisa mat sochiye.Desh ko aap ke khel ki zaroorat hai aur ye meri bhi request hai ki Retirement ka vichar bhi aap mann mein mat laayiye.@msdhoni (Nowadays I am learning that you are intending to retire. Please do not think such. The country needs you and also I request you not to think about retirement.)"

Some media reports had earlier said that Dhoni will retire from international cricket after the World Cup.

Dhoni faced severe criticisms for his poor strike rate after he scored 28 off 52 balls against Afghanistan in a World Cup match. Some of the cricket experts including former skipper Sourav Ganguly had questioned Dhoni's "intent" after he failed to fire in the slog overs against England when the asking rate was going high.

Even after rescuing the Indian team from a grim situation against New Zealand in the World Cup semifinal on Wednesday, Dhoni failed to clinch the victory for his team. All hopes of Indian fans to reach the final were dashed after the wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed in a runout at 50.

Chasing a target of 240, India were bowled out for 221.
