Cricketer Sarfaraz Khan prefers helping migrant workers over celebrating Eid

New Delhi/IBNS: Setting an example in the tough times amid Coronavirus scare, Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan has said he would not celebrate Muslim festival Eid-ul-Fitr but help migrant workers with the money instead.

Khan said as quoted by Times Now, "We will not celebrate Eid this time. The money we would have spent to buy new clothes and accessories on Eid, will now be spent on those needing help. We urge all those who are economically well to also come forward to help others in this time."

"We’re distributing food and water bottles to people because so many people are returning to their villages due to the fear of coronavirus. They are hungry and thirsty and have been travelling for so many days. We also stay hungry during Ramadan, so we have an idea about the value of food and water."

Millions of Muslim people celebrate Eid every year with the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Khan, who has excelled in first class cricket, scored loads of runs in the last Ranji Trophy season.

The right-handed batsman now plays for Kings Xi Punjab in Indian Premier League.
