Contract system proposed for the Indian women's team: BCCI

Kolkata, May 24 (IBNS) The Women’s Cricket Committee of the BCCI met in Kolkata on Sunday and recommended to the Working Committee a contract system for international women cricketers was proposed.

"On the lines of Men’s cricket, a Contract system for international Women cricketers was proposed. It was also proposed to have more international fixtures for the Indian Women’s cricket team," read a statement issued by the BCCI.

"The Committee recommended adding two more tournaments to give more exposure and opportunities to women cricketers at the domestic level. The Committee proposed to start an under-16 state level tournament within the zones. It also proposed to start an under-23 tournament," said another recommendation.

The present formats of the women’s under-19 tournament and the senior women’s tournament will remain unchanged.
