Assam's promising swimmer, Bikram Changmai, along with six other medal prospects from the state, will represent their respective universities from other states at the upcoming 3rd edition of the Khelo India University Games.

Changmai, who won silver medals for Assam at the National Games last year, will compete in swimming events, aiming to outperform Olympian Sajan Prakash, reported Nagaland Post.

Two female swimmers, Uttara Gogoi and Riniki Bordoloi, will represent Delhi University in swimming.

Assam's Barnali Bora and Swapnapriya Barua will compete in weightlifting for Yegi Vemana University, while Diya Bora will participate in badminton for Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) Gwalior.

Akankshya Bhuyan will represent Chandigarh University in women's table tennis. Hriday Hazarika, a shooter from Cotton University, is expected to perform well after winning a silver medal at the ISSF Shooting World Cup.

Archers Production Borgoyary and Samaina Basumatary from Bodoland University complete Assam's squad. The 10-day Khelo India University Games will take place in various locations in Uttar Pradesh, with shooting events held near New Delhi.

Over 4,000 athletes from around 200 universities will compete in 21 sports, aiming for medals in the under-27 category.

The previous winners were Panjab University in 2020 and Jain University in 2021.

The games will run from May 25 to June 3, with Kabaddi being the first event starting on May 23.
