Asian Games: Manjit Singh wins surprise gold for India, takes tally to 50

Jakarta, Aug 28 (IBNS): A surprise gold from Manjit Singh on the tenth day of Asian Games took India'a tally to 50 on Monday.

Singh bagged the gold medal in the men's 800 metres event here on Tuesday.

Singh completed the race in 1:46.15 minutes.

Jinson Johnson clinched the silver medal by finishing the race in 1:46.35 minutes.

Anas, Poovamma, Hima Das and Rajiv Arokia finished second to win silver in the  Mixed Relay 4*400m final.

They clocked 3:15.71 to finish the race. 

India won their first ever bronze medal in table tennis at the Asian Games 2018 on Tuesday.

India won the medal in Men's Team Event.

The team comprise Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar and Anthony Amal Raj.

Losing to Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying in the badminton final of Asian Games 2018, PV Sindhu settled for a silver medal.

Sindhu lost to world no.1 Tzu Ying 13-21, 16-21.

This is the first silver won by India in badminton at the Asian Games.

Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal clinched a bronze medal in women's singles.

Both Indian Men's and Women's Compound Team Archery won silver medals.

After winning one gold, five silver and two bronze medals on day 10, India are presently at the eight position with a tally of 50.
