Sara Ali Khan trolled for Kedarnath temple visit; Twitterati question liberals' 'silence'

The controversy erupted after Sara, the daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan and his ex-wife Amrita Singh, shared a few pictures with actress Janhvi Kapoor on Instagram.

In the pictures, the two young actresses can be seen standing in front of Kedarnath temple.

In the picture, one named shahidaman2021 commented, "Sara are you muslim."

Another used wrote, "You are a Muslim, so what are you doing, Astagfirullah."

Strongly reacting to the trolls, a section of Twitter users supported Sara and questioned the "silence" of liberals, who stood beside Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami after he had received hate comments on social media recently.

One Mahesh Vikram Hegde tweeted, "In last 48 hours: Actress Sara Ali Khan was abused for visiting Kedarnath temple * Journalist Rubika Liyaquat was abused for following a Hindu tradition But liberals & seculars are not saying "I stand with these women" Because peacefuls were behind it!"

Another user said, "Sara Ali Khan being abused & mansplained by Mslims for visiting temple but people who outraged for Md Shami won't speak on this bcz they are also busy abusing Sara now for not following lsIam properly."

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kapil Mishra tweeted, "They don’t hate Sara Ali Khan. They hate the fact that Sara Ali Khan doesn’t hate Hindus."

Interestingly, Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi had supported Shami, who was trolled after India were defeated by Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021.

Incidentally, Sara made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Kedarnath', starring opposite late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
