'I want to work with newcomers and promote new ideas': Subhashree Ganguly turning producer with 'Abar Proloy'

| @indiablooms | Aug 07, 2023, at 07:28 pm

Leading Bengali actress Subhashree Ganguly turned a producer with her filmmaker husband Raj Chakraborty's debut web series 'Abar Proloy', which will be streaming on Zee5 from August 11. In the backdrop of her success on OTT with 'Indubala Bhaater Hotel', Subhashree speaks to IBNS correspondent Souvik Ghosh on her new journey...

Q. Did you consider the present time as appropriate to venture into production considering the recent successes?

A. No, I never planned like this. After working in the film industry for so long, I wanted to opt into production. I had an interest in producing films. I think 'Abar Proloy' was the correct project to become the producer. Of course, I am going to launch my own production house next year. But 'Abar Proloy' is the best project to join the production actively.

Q. Do you recall the moment of your acting debut as you embark on a new journey?

A. I recall that every moment actually. I can't forget those days since they were the roots and the sweetest moments which will remain with me forever.

Q. Acting debut or production debut, which one of the two challenged you more?

A. I think challenges will always be there. There is no fun without struggle. The ups and downs, highs and lows will always be there in a career or in a life. It would be dull and boring if there were no highs and lows.

Q. Do you discuss work at home with Raj Chakraborty?

A. Definitely. We discuss work a lot. I am lucky as an artist to always find a director always by my side. Discussions on works are always there between me and Raj.

Q. Do you have a list of filmmakers with whom you would like to collaborate as a producer in future?

A. Yes, I want to work with newcomers. I want to promote new ideas and the young generation. I want to see newcomers flourish like Raj Chakraborty did with ‘Chirodini Tumi Je Amar’ years ago.
