Will form SIT to probe into Amphan corruption: Amit Shah in Bengal

| @indiablooms | Mar 23, 2021, at 07:31 pm

Kolkata/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, if formed, will constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the alleged corruption over the Amphan relief by the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

"The Modi government had sent 10,000 crore to West Bengal as Amphan relief. Where has the money gone? The entire money was looted by the bhaipo (Abhishek Banerjee) company. After coming to power, the BJP will form a SIT and send all offenders to jail," Shah said.

Shah through his comment has tried to bolster the BJP's campaign against the TMC over corruption, which is one of the major issues in the West Bengal assembly elections.

The Home Minister on Tuesday reiterated that the BJP government will implement the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, which aims to grant citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Parsi, Jain but not Muslim refugees who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before 2015.

The first phase of West Bengal polls is going to be held on Saturday.
