Will accept decision of high command: Amarinder Singh after meeting Sonia Gandhi on Punjab infighting

New Delhi/IBNS: After holding a meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said he would accept "whatever decision is taken by the high command" amid bitter infighting in the state.

The meeting raised speculation about a resolution in the Chief Minister's feud with his biggest rival and challenger, Navjot Singh Sidhu.

"Whatever decision is taken by the Congress high command we will go by it," Amarinder Singh told reporters.

Asked whether any announcement would be made on Sidhu getting a key post, he told media: "I don't know anything about Sidhu saab, jo bhi faisla hoga ,woh ham amal karenge jo Congress president chahtey hain (Whatever is the decision, whatever the Congress president wants, we will follow it)."

Amarinder Singh flew from Chandigarh to Delhi by a special chopper.

Earlier, Singh's biggest rival Navjot Singh Sidhu met senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra last week.

Days before this, Amarinder Singh had met with a three-member panel appointed by Sonia Gandhi to recommend a solution to the Punjab infighting but had left Delhi without any meeting with the Gandhis.

Tuesday's meeting was an attempt for Congress to bring the Chief Minister on board with a formula that would require Sidhu to be accommodated in a top post either in the Punjab Congress or the state government, NDTV reported quoting sources.

Singh and Sidhu have been publicly involved in a feud damaging the Congress position in the state ahead of the Assembly elections next year.
