Hyderabad/IBNS: Reacting to the murder of veterinary doctor in Shamshabad, Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali on Friday left many shocked when he asked why the "educated" doctor called her sister and not the police.

Speaking to India Today TV, Mohammad Mahmood Ali said the "doctor was educated" and it was "unfortunate" that the deceased veterinary doctor dialled her family and not the police.

The alleged murder of the doctor has left the state shocked.

The police have detained four people in connection with the incident so far from Cyberabad.

The woman's charred body was recovered on Thursday.

She had reportedly called her sister previous day and told her how some strangers were making her feel uncomfortable.

"Please talk to me for a while...I am scared. They [the strangers] are all waiting outside. You please keep talking to me, I am scared," the victim had told her sister as reported by India Today.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident.

"We received a complaint in Shamshabad Rural Police Station from her sister. The victim was working as a veterinary doctor at Kollur had gone to a hospital for treatment and while returning her vehicle's tires got punctured. Today morning her burnt body was found from Shadnagar outskirts," ACP of Shadnagar, V Surender had was quoted as saying by the news channel.

Rahul Gandhi condoled the death of the doctor.

He tweeted: "I'm shocked to hear about the brutal rape & murder of #DrPriyankaReddy in Hyderabad. How anyone could subject another human being to such terrible, unprovoked violence is beyond imagination. My thoughts & prayers are with the victim's family at this time of immense grief."
