West Bengal: Robbers loot cash and gold on gunpoint in Nadia

Krishnagar, Oct 13(UNI) A group of armed robbers broke into a house in Ujir Pukuria village under Ganganapur Police Station of Nadia district in the wee hours of Sunday and looted cash and gold ornaments on gunpoint.

According to sources, the robbers broke the front door lock of one Tapan Dutta's house and on gun point threatened his parents of dire consequences if they tried to raise an alarm.


The anti-socials then looted Rs 50000 cash and nearly 140 gm of gold from an almirah in one of the bedrooms and made good their escape.


The robbers had their faces covered and were carrying bombs apart from guns, the family sources said.


An FIR was lodged in connection with the case in Ganganapur Police Station, but so far no one has been arrested.

The incident has triggered panic in the area and common people are questioning police role in ensuring their safety.
