Kolkata/Cooch Behar, Jan 20 (IBNS): Body of a teenage girl, who was missing since Tuesday night, was found hanging from a tree at Sitai village in West Bengal's Cooch Behar district on Wednesday, reports said.

Locals alleged that the girl, who was a tenth standard student, was raped and murdered and then was hanged on the tree.

However, the police have started investigation into the matter and sent the girl's body for postmortem.

"We have started a probe into the matter. We are waiting for the postmortem report to know the exact reason behind her death," one senior official of Cooch Behar district police told IBNS.
