West Bengal: Five dead as boat capsizes during Durga idol immersion in Murshidabad

Kolkata/IBNS: Five persons were killed after a boat carrying a Durga idol and several people capsized in a lake in Beldanga in Murshidabad district of West Bengal on Monday evening during immersion, reports said.

According to reports, the overloaded boat capsized in Dumnidaha Bill at around 5:45 pm, leaving five people of a family missing.

Later at night, police recovered the bodies of four people while another missing person's body was found after an overnight search operation.

Local police said that the deceased had been identified as Rohan Pal (23), Anindya Banerjee (23), Sukhendu Dey (22), Rubai Hazra Banerjee (20) and Nippan Hazra Banerjee (35).
