West Bengal extends ban on flights from six Indian cities till Aug 31

| @indiablooms | Aug 11, 2020, at 10:34 pm

Kolkata/UNI: The West Bengal Government has requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to extend the current ban on direct flight further to Kolkata from six cities of India up to Aug 31.

The existing ban on direct flight up to Aug 15 from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Nagpur and Ahmedabad would continue up to August 31 in an effort to contain the Coronavirus from spreading.

The direct flights from these cities have been banned since Jul 6 last, as the state government has been updating such restrictions from time to time after assessing the Covid-19 situation across the state as well as other parts of the country.

The state government has also earlier announced "complete lockdown" on August 20,21, 27, 28 and 31 and on those days all the airports in the state will come under "no fly zone" for Covid situations.
