West Bengal: Aged woman died of burn while trying to beat the cold on afire in North Dinajpur

Raigunj/UNI: A sixty-nine-year-old woman was burnt alive after her saree caught fire from an oven, she was sitting nearby warming herself to beat the shivering cold in North Dinajpur district, which is reeling under cold wave for the past week, police said today.

Eye witnesses said deceased Ahamedun Necha sat close to the oven after her family ended cooking around 2200 hours on Sunday, when her saree fell on the oven and before she realised, the lower portion of her body had burnt badly.


She was taken to the Raigunj government hospital where the medics declared her dead on arrival.
