Kolkata/IBNS: Two months ahead of West Bengal assembly polls, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA from Diamond Harbour constituency, Dipak Haldar, on Monday resigned from the party, alleging that it did not allow him to work for people. He thus joined a long list of TMC leaders who left the party in the poll-bound state.

According to reports, the two-time MLA sent his resignation letter to the leadership via Speed Post.

Dipak Halder, who was reportedly maintaining distance from his party for the past few months, is likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon, sources said.

Earlier on Saturday, five Trinamool Congress turncoats including former West Bengal Forest Minister Rajib Banerjee, actor Rudranil Ghosh joined the BJP in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

Apart from Banerjee, suspended rebel Trinamool MLA, Baishali Dalmia, sitting lawmaker Prabir Ghoshal, ex-party MLA Partha Sarathi Chatterjee, former Howrah Mayor Rathin Chakraborty have also joined the saffron camp.
