Vote against Congress in Rajasthan floor test: Mayawati's whip to BSP MLAs

| @indiablooms | Jul 27, 2020, at 04:41 pm

Lucknow/Jaipur/IBNS: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has issued a whip to her six party MLAs to vote against the Congress' Rajasthan government, if a floor test is conducted in the assembly to check if Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot enjoys the majority to remain in power, media reports said.

However technically, Mayawati does not have any MLA in the state now as all elected BSP MLAs had merged with the Congress.

The BSP had earlier approached the Election Commission (EC) to consider the six MLAs as its own during the Rajya Sabha polls.

But the EC had refused to intervene in that saying it was in the Speaker's domain.

The Congress plunged into a political crisis, which is deepening with every passing day, more than a couple of weeks ago when Pilot went to Delhi revolting against Gehlot, after being allegedly sidelined in his own party.

Pilot was sacked as the Deputy Chief Minister and party's state unit chief after he had skipped two meetings of MLAs chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Meanwhile, Gehlot, who claims to have the strength in the assembly, has urged Governor Kalraj Mishra to open the assembly to which the latter disapproved.

After Mishra had asked the reasons for holding an assembly session, Gehlot said he wanted a discussion over Novel Coronavirus to take place.
