Uttar Pradesh : Rape accused SP Minister says he has been framed, moves SC against FIR order

Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, Feb 20 (IBNS) : Controversial Samajwadi Party Minister Gayatri Prajapati, an accused in a gang-rape case, on Monday claimed that he has been framed as a result of political conspiracy, reports said.

He broke down  while addressing a rally at Amethi and said hat he has full faith in court, and is confident about getting justice.

Prajapati is accused of  gang-raping a woman along with his associates and molesting her minor daughter.

Prajapati on Monday also moved the Supreme Court against an earlier order which asked state police to register a FIR against him

On Friday, an FIR was registered against him  on the orders of the apex Court, which has also sought a police report within eight weeks.

Prajapati has earlier been accused of promoting illegal mining and was sacked as minister last year by Akhilesh Yadav over corruption charges.

However, he  was reinstated  later.

Akhilesh Yadav had started his campaign for UP with Prajapati by his side in Sultanpur, adjacent to Amethi, where the Miinister is the SP candidate and the sitting legislator.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the Prajapati issue saying at a rally, "Akhilesh ji you started your election campaign by campaigning for Gayatri Prajapati... the people of UP want to know if your SP-Congress alliance is as pure as Gayatri Prajapati."
