Barabanki, Nov 8 (UNI) A Judge was allegedly thrashed by lawyers in this district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

According to sources, Judge Sandeep Jain was working on the typing of an order in his office when some lawyers entered his room and allegedly beat him up.

The First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Judge states that while he was working in his office, about 50 lawyers came there, held his collar and started thrashing him. Efforts were also made to snatch his security guard's carbine and a peon was also beaten up.

It also stated that the lawyers gave him threats like, "You work a lot. We will see you."

Protesting against the violent confrontation between the police and lawyers at the Tis Hazari court premises in New Delhi, last Saturday, lawyers in UP are on a strike today.

The protest is happening after the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh called for the same.
