US Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley meets Kailash Satyarthi, visits Mukti Ashram

New Delhi, June 27 (IBNS): US Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley on Wednesday visited Mukti Asharam of Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi and discussed challenges of child labor, trafficking and sexual abuse.  

Nikki tweeted after meeting Satyarthi and his ashram: "RT @USUN: We visited a @K_Satyarthi supported children’s shelter to discuss the challenges of child labor, trafficking & sexual abuse. We heard many stories from children who thankfully have been freed & encouraged them to pay it forward by helping children in similar situations."

Satyarthi said he welcomed Nikki to his ashram.

"Crimes against children is the biggest threat to humanity. I urged @nikkihaley to support the formation of an international response mechanism to combat issue of child security. I believe our shared values and commitment are a strong force which can end child trafficking," Satyarthi tweeted.

"Welcomed US Ambassador to @UN @nikkihaley at Mukti Ashram today. India and the United States, the largest democracies of the world, must take collective responsibility for the protection of children," he said.

Nikki is currently on a three-day visit to India.
