Union Ministers return to work amid Coronavirus scare

New Delhi/IBNS: Following the directive of the Indian government, several Union Ministers on Monday resumed their work by coming to their respective offices amid the spike in Novel Coronavirus cases across the country.

The ministers returned to their work a month after they were asked to work from home.

However recently, the Centre has ordered all government officials who are entitled to official vehicles to resume works at offices.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Minister of State for Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju were spotted entering their offices early on Monday.

All ministers were given hand sanitizers at the entrance.

Nirmala Sitharaman, who handles the critical Finance Ministry, was seen wearing a home-made mask at her office.

Finance was one sector that has heavily suffered due to the 21-day nationwide lockdown which was called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Mar 24 to stem the spread of COVID-19.

Sitharaman has already announced a mega stimulus package of Rs. 1,70,000 crore to uplift the poor as several daily wagers' income has been jeopardized over the last three weeks.

Following a meeting with Modi on Saturday, several Chief Ministers have already extended the lockdown in their respective states till the end of the current month as India is recording a steady rise in COVID-19 cases in each passing day.
