Union Home Minister Amit Shah to reach West Bengal today

| @indiablooms | Feb 17, 2021, at 11:19 pm

Kolkata/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive here Wednesday night on a two-day visit to West Bengal.

Shah is scheduled to visit Kapil Muni Ashram at Ganga Sagar Thursday and join a migrant family for lunch at Narayanpur village in Namkhana before flagging off the fifth and last phase of BJPs Parivartan Jatra from Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas district.

After the launch of the ‘Poriborton Yatra’ from Kakdwip, Shah will be back in the city on February 18 in the evening.

He will then flag off the Freedom Fighter Bike Yatra from BBD Bagh. He is also expected to pay a visit to Aurobindo Bhawan before calling it a day.

BJP's ‘Poriborton Yatra’ first started on February 6 in the presence of the party’s national president JP Nadda from Nabadwip in Bengal's Nadia district. Two subsequent legs of the Yatra were flagged off by Nadda from Tarapith in Birbhum district and Jhargram on February 9.

With the ‘rath yatras’ expected to criss-cross the length and breadth of the state, touching all 294 assembly constituencies, BJP hopes to boost its electoral fortunes after emerging as the main challenger to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal.

It may be recalled that Shah had visited Coochbehar and Bangaon Thakurnagar on 11th of this month.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hooghly’s Chinsurah to address a public rally on February 22.

This will be the third visit of the Prime Minister in West Bengal.
