Chandigarh/UNI: Haryana Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Farmers' Welfare Minister J P Dalal has said that for the first time in the country, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a digital Union Budget, which will prove to be effective in doubling the farmers' income by 2022, as per the resolution taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Stating this while interacting with the journalists in Bhiwani on Saturday, Dalal said it has been clearly mentioned in the Budget that Minimum Support Price (MSP) is not being abolished at any cost, while about 1000 new Mandis (Grain Markets) will be set up for the ryots.

The upcoming budget of Haryana government will also be in the interest of farmers as well as every section of the society, he added.

Stating that both the State and Central Governments are committed to make efforts in the interest of farmers, Dalal said new schemes are being implemented by the state government for the benefit of ryots.

The country's biggest Mandi (Grain Market) is being set up in Ganaur, having international standards, which will become functional in two months, said the Minister.

Similarly, a flower market will also be set up in Gurugram, which will even beat the mandis of Delhi, he added.

The Minister said that on the lines of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), a center for marketing of agriculture produce is being set up at Badshahpur in Gurugram by Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar.

From this institute, young farmers will be able to get higher education in the field of marketing and management of agriculture, following which they can generate more opportunities in the field of agriculture. Similarly, fish farming and mushroom production are being promoted in the state, he added.

The Minister said Sonipat has become a mushroom-hub and this will now be extended to Rohtak, Dadri and Bhiwani also. Under the self-reliant India mission, a loan of Rs two crore is provided for mushrooms production, which gets 30-40 per cent subsidy, he added.
