Uddhav Thackeray to take oath as Maharashtra CM tomorrow, Aghadi to finalise portfolios soon

Reminding the scene in Karnataka last year, the Sena-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi is likely to invite a host of opposition leaders to the swearing-in ceremony which will be held at Shivaji Park.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah are also likely to be invited by Aghadi, India Today reported.

The leaders of the Sena, NCP and Congress will meet on Wednesday afternoon to finalise the portfolios. Uddhav is expected to have two Deputy Chief Ministers, one from NCP and other from Congress.

Meanwhile, NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who had earlier supported the BJP, returned to his party on Wednesday.

Ajit took his party chief and uncle Sharad Pawar on Saturday early morning to surprise by handing over a letter of support to the BJP claiming 35 of his party MLAs were with him.

However, NCP chief Sharad Pawar kept his flock together throughout which left no other option for Ajit but to resign on Tuesday.

"After the Supreme Court verdict (which ordered a floor test), I had decided to quit," Ajit told media.

Following Ajit's resignation, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis also stepped down saying, "We don't have the majority and we don't want to break parties."

All elected MLAs took oath in the special assembly session called by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday.
