Tripura provides maximum job to aspirational blocks: Dy CM

Agartala/UNI: Tripura government has provided maximum jobs to the selected aspirational rural development blocks of the state in the current financial year that boosted up rural livelihood substantially, claimed deputy chief minister holding the rural development portfolio Jishnu Dev Varma here today.  

He said more than 71.19 per cent of targeted work has been done so far in the state only under MGNREGA, while Ganganagar, Chowmanu and Dasda of Dhalai and North Tripura districts- the three aspirational blocks out of the 12 selected blocks - have completed 91 per cent, 88 per cent and 58 per cent works under MGNREGA, respectively.

He said the government has been contemplating to develop assets through MGNREGA to ensure sustainable livelihood for the people living in the remote areas and added, “The state government is planning to launch big projects each for eight districts, which will transform the entire area.”

Applauding the success of BJP-IPFT government in Tripura in the last 22 months, Dev Varma underlined that Tripura has been awarded by the Union ministry of rural development in 13 categories for the implementation of various flagship schemes of the Centre, including MGNREGA.

Tripura secured the first position in maintaining discipline in the MGNREGA funds, he stated.In terms of timely completion of projects, Tripura secured the second position among the hilly states, for successful implementation of rural development schemes, Gomati district of Tripura attained the top among position among the hilly states.

Gomati district has also secured the second position in district-level implementation of the scheme among the hilly states of the country, Dev Varma added.He further mentioned that Karbok block of Gomati district and Teliamura block of Khowai district have been awarded for the performances in MGNREGA under distinguished categories.

In terms of institution building, Tripura rural livelihood mission has been also praised at the national level.Tripura secured the second position in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) among the hilly states of the country.

The state also stood first in Pradhamnatri Awas Yojana among the hilly states and union territories.An average 44 man-days have been generated till the first week of December and the Central government has provided additional funds for MGNREGA beyond approved labour budget, Dev Varma added.
