Tripura CM Deb announces exemption of lockdown rule for manufacturing units

Agartal/UNI: aWith no fresh case of Covid-19 positive in the state after first-level screening of the tracing contact of first Coronavirus case, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced some exemption in lockdown rules for manufacturing units of essential commodities and production units.

Tripura had traced the first Covid case on April 6, possibly 17 days of the infection and now it has become negative. Three days later the state surveillance team had found a Tripura State Rifles , hailing from Madhya Pradesh, positive after 20 days of his travel to Tripura from New Delhi. All of their forward contacts have tested negative.

Deb tweeted, “We have decided that manufacturing units of essential commodities and production units (which require continuous process) will remain functional during the lockdown period by properly maintaining social distancing and healthcare guidelines.”

He pointed out that as per the government's decision all units processing food items and essential commodities, rubber processing units will resume functioning. The chief minister also indicated that nursing students would be involved in Corona care activities in the healthcare facilities with a token monthly payment.

Meanwhile, the state government has prescribed various guidelines for the operation of the industrial establishments during the lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The order also said movements of people would be allowed based on pass issued by a competent authority.

He exhorted women entrepreneurs to come forward and set up industries and get involved in the business and added, “We all talk about equality of women and empowerment of women. While in the government services women have fair representations, it is only when women members of the society will start their business then only overall development of the state can be achieved.”

Further, he added that his government has decided to provide assistance of Rs 1000 to as many as 6979 hardcore Jhumia families (shifting cultivators) in view of the lockdown. Besides, the government will also provide financial assistance of Rs 2000 to each of the 700 flower growers in two installments from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
