Mumbai/IBNS: Three members of a family died on the spot when the car they were travelling in was run over and crushed by a container truck on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway, the visuals of which were caught in the rear camera of another truck travelling in front of the ill-fated vehicle.

The accident occurred when the container truck lost control and rammed into the car, crushing it completely.

After being run over, the Hyundai i10 caught fire. The driver of the truck travelling behind the car sustained serious injuries, said media reports.

A patrol team of Highway Police rescued the driver and shifted him to a hospital, they added.

All the three occupants of the car, including a 4 year old boy, died under the impact of the accident, said media reports.
