Tejashwi Yadav neck deep in corruption, shouldn't be the leader of opposition : JD (U)

Bihar Education Minister Mewalal Choudhary was forced to resign within a few hours after assuming office on Nov 19, following a corruption case flagged by opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had been spearheading the attack against Mewa Lal Choudhary, who is a JD (U) MLA from Bihar's Tarapur Assembly constituency, after Nitish Kumar inducted him in his cabinet.

After Mewalal Choudhary took oath as a cabinet minister, Tejashwi Yadav sharpened his attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar saying that he has granted exemption to loot and robbery by appointing Mewalal Chaudhary.

A case in connection with irregularities in the appointments to posts of assistant professor and junior scientists was filed in 2017 against Mewalal Choudhary, who was the vice-chancellor of Bhagalpur agriculture university from 2010-15 Following the FIR, Choudhary was expelled from the party.

Bihar JD (U) president Vashishta Narain Singh in a press conference on Saturday asserted that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has set a high standard of morality in public life by seeking resignation of Education Minister Mewalal Chaudhary within hours of his assuming the office.

State working JD (U) president Ashok Chaudhary said the Chief Minister has always assured that no compromise will be made with crime, corruption and communalism under his government.

They said Yadav had several corruption cases pending against him “lodged under various sections of the IPC and even SC/ST Act” and he should not be the one to point fingers.

They said the state government has already directed the superintendent of police of the district concerned to go ahead with the case against Mewa Lal Chaudhary, which proved that that none would be spared irrespective of his or her position. The proceedings will start as soon as the governor's nod in the matter, they added.

State JD (U) Spokesman Sanjay Singh said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has never tolerated corruption in public life, forced resignation from several ministers and MLAs, when corruption charges against them were brought to his notice.

The JD (U) leaders said it was RJD leader Tejaswi Prasad Yadav's turn to explain who gave him the moral right to talk on corruption when his entire family was neck deep in corruption.

They alleged that Tejashwi Yadav had not revealed the full details of the cases in which he was named while filing nomination papers from Raghopur Assembly seat and urged the Election Commission to take notice of the “deliberate omission”.
