Salem/UNI: In a gruesome tragedy, six tourists from Nepal were killed and 28 others injured after two Omni buses collided each other at Naripallam near Omalur in this district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday midnight.

Police said, a group of 34 tourists from Kathmandu were proceeding to Rajasthan in an Omni bus after visiting Kanyakumari, when the accident occurred.

The Nepal tourists had decided to take rest in a temple mandapam (hall) for the night and to continue their journey on Thursday morning.

The driver of Omni bus carrying Nepal tourists reportedly made a sharp turn to move to the other lane of the road without noticing another Omni bus approaching on the lane.

The other Omni bus that was proceeding to Thiruvananthapuram from Bengaluru hit the tourist Omni bus.

Six Nepalese, including a woman were killed in the accident.

The injured were admitted to the government hospital.

Further investigation is on.
